Morton East student Yeniah Matos Delgado was selected as a finalist for the inaugural “NFL Latino Youth Honors.”
The NFL and Hispanic Heritage Foundation recognize outstanding high school flag football athletes from around the country for their academic and athletic excellence. She is one of the eight finalists selected out of 56 student athletes who were nominated. She was one of two youths nominated by the Chicago Bears. The national winner will be announced at Super Bowl LVIII.
Yeniah received recognition at the October 1 Chicago Bears Latino Heritage Month game. She also receives a grant for college and, along with the other seven finalists, is invited to a series of events in Las Vegas during Super Bowl LVIII week. They will receive a grant award that can be used for college. They will also participate in a variety of events in Las Vegas during Super Bowl LVIII Week.
