Decorating for Halloween is a billion dollar business

As we start to move into the spooky Halloween spirit, house owners start to decorate their house with Halloween-themed decorations. As we see these awe-gasping houses catch our eye, many wonder if there is a house that outdoes the rest.
Around Halloween, people decorate their houses to celebrate this spooky holiday. Consumers who decide to spend money on decorations spends on average $86.79 according to CNN.com. According to hiaonline.org, 42.9% of people plan to decorate their house for Halloween. Hiaonline.org also found out consumers are going to spend a total of 2.7 billion dollars for this year’s Halloween decorations.
“I went down the street with my dog and saw a giant inflatable cat in my neighbor’s yard, and the cats head turned back and forth,” Matthew Dougan stated.
These are common decorations people encounter day to day. However, there are a few decorated houses that seem to be a bit more eccentric and outlandish decorations.
“I saw someone who had a toilet in their front yard that had a box that had a person inside of it holding the toilet,” A Morton East’s security guard stated.
Whether it be outlandish decorations to more traditional ones, Cicero does not have a Halloween decoration contest and it raises questions on whether to hold one.
“No, I don’t think there should be a house decoration contest. I think having a contest will make the less decorated houses to be shamed in a way. It would be bad not giving other decorated houses credit,” Morton East Student, Ricardo Salgado, stated.
Regardless if you think Cicero should have a Halloween decoration contest or not, we could all agree watching residents decorate their house is pleasing to the eye and puts us all in a Halloween spirit.

I think its unnecessary to spend so much money on Halloween decorations. First of all it is not something you will have up the whole year and secondly all that money people waste on Halloween decorations could be used for something more useful. For example it could be given to people in need instead of being wasted on something you might only use once. I also think the contest is not necessary because it will make people who don’t decorate their houses excluded.

I think is unnecessary to waste money on halloween house decorations. Because this time nobody celebrates halloween anymore. Cicero shouldn’t do a halloween contest because is a unnecessary event to do. There a lot of people that would been left because they don’t have money to buy any decorations. Even if they do have money they would be fights/arguments between neighbors and the neighborhoods would be crazy and not calm.

I personally think that the decorations are probably one of the best things about the fall and Halloween season. I think Cicero should have a Halloween decoration contest it would be fun to see all the creativity that person has and put work into something fun. Decorations are such fun way of expression you can find out a lot about a way a house is decorated.

I think that if Cicero ever has a house decorating contest the houses that don’t decorate might still not decorate them. Because my family never decorates our house on Halloween so whether or not we had a contest we still wouldn’t decorate. On Halloween is your house decorated?

I find it dumb how people spend so much money to decorate there house for a week or 2 and sometimes don’t even continue to use the decorations for next year.

Depending on what price the decorations are for people to start decorating, the percentage should be accurate because i don’t think people spend that much money on October, but yes many people spend so much money on decorations from around the US depending on the price the decorations have and the amount money people have so they can buy the Halloween decorations to decorate their houses.

I agree that millions of dollars are spent during the month of October because of Halloween. Many like to dress up. Others buy decorations for their homes to make it look scary. People also spend money on candy to give out. People also throw Halloween parties and waste a lot of money on Halloween stuff.

I agree with article on seen houses that are been decorated for Halloween it gets you on the halloween spirit. Also many retail stores like: spirit Halloween and party city, etc. benefit from the Halloween spirit by having an increased on profits.

I like that you mentioned how much money people tend to spend on decorations for their house. It’s been a tradition for many people to decorate their house for every holiday; Halloween, thanksgiving, and Christmas. I think the contest would be a good idea for the people that would like to sign up and participate.

It’s not surprising that so many people waste so much money on decorating their house because if you go around the neighborhood you’ll realize how many people actually decorate their house. It’s actually pretty cool to see new, scary, and crazy things people come up with each year. By decorating your house your house will stand out and be an eye-pleaser. I still find it crazy how many people spend that much money on decorating their house though. We decorate out house but never spend that much money. I can just imagine how much people spend on Christmas.

I think that many people do spend a lot of money on Halloween decorations and lights. I think my opinion doesn’t really matter because it’s my house. If people like their house all decorated they should do it because it looks beautiful.

Decorating your house for Halloween really does show that you are in the Halloween spirit. Houses that are decorated usually have good candy, just saying, Cicero having a Halloween decorating contest would be amazing because it will put everyone in a spooky mood and it will bring the community together.

I think that is amazing to see what your neighbors have put outside of their houses. But I think it should be a great idea to have a Halloween contest on how people decorate their houses. All the kids and adult will have fun on looking around them and seeing a lot of decorations.

Its fun to look at the houses that are decorated with spooky decorations, it just makes Halloween be more exciting. So far this month i have only seen a couple of houses decorated. I think it would be fun to have Halloween decoration contest, it would encourage people to decorate their houses and get more into the spooky vibe. I agree that seeing houses decorated for Halloween is very eye pleasing, just like for any other holiday. especially when you’re out trick-or-treating, the houses that are decorated are the most fun to go receive candy from. Do any other neighborhoods have a decorating contest ?

The Halloween decorations is one of the best parts about the holiday. Someone can go all out and really express themselves in a spooky way. It can be really fun for anyone at any age, and that’s what Halloween is about. Do you decorate your house spontaneously or not very much?
