Morton students believe travelers should require a negative Covid test

In a survey of 52 Morton students, 49 students agreed with the requirement to obtain a negative Covid test result when boarding a flight.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it will now be a requirement for travelers to show a negative Covid test result no more than 3 days before their flight regarding the entrance to the United States.

The CDC site includes all information for concerned travelers.  It is important to point out if a passenger has tested positive for Covid-19, airlines must refuse to board anyone who tests positive. This order was officially put into effect on January 26, 2021.

Many Morton students have their own opinions based on this topic regarding if this requirement should have happened sooner or if it is going to be effective. Although instructions may seem clear, many students still have some questions and concerns if the government took too long to take action. However, they are students who are glad the government is taking action because better now than never, some students are hoping this will limit the cases of Covid entering the United States.

One thing that is clear is that most students believe most travelers should be tested to leave the country as well — not only the ones coming in to avoid the spread of Covid in other countries.  They think we should also protect the spread from our country to other countries.
