Morton students believe travelers should require a negative Covid test
More stories from Ketzaly Ocampo
In a survey of 52 Morton students, 49 students agreed with the requirement to obtain a negative Covid test result when boarding a flight.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it will now be a requirement for travelers to show a negative Covid test result no more than 3 days before their flight regarding the entrance to the United States.
The CDC site includes all information for concerned travelers. It is important to point out if a passenger has tested positive for Covid-19, airlines must refuse to board anyone who tests positive. This order was officially put into effect on January 26, 2021.
Many Morton students have their own opinions based on this topic regarding if this requirement should have happened sooner or if it is going to be effective. Although instructions may seem clear, many students still have some questions and concerns if the government took too long to take action. However, they are students who are glad the government is taking action because better now than never, some students are hoping this will limit the cases of Covid entering the United States.
One thing that is clear is that most students believe most travelers should be tested to leave the country as well — not only the ones coming in to avoid the spread of Covid in other countries. They think we should also protect the spread from our country to other countries.

I completely agree, as traveling is happening a lot more now it would be best for travelers to test negative in order to go anywhere just so yourself and everyone around you is safe.

Judge: I agree that those who are traveling should definitely get a negative test result. Covid has been going on for over a year now, and those who are traveling outside the country or even state should consider the lives and well being for themselves and those around them.

(Judge) I agree that people who would like to travel should test negative for Covid before making plans. This would reduce the spread of the virus and will make people feel safer during the trip.

I agree as well, as people begin traveling again I feel as if they get tested first and come out negative it would make things so much safer and keep cases in different locations low. (judge)

Judge: I agree that travelers should require a negative covid test so that it can lower the chances of covid being spread around especially in traveling. But i also feel like there should be some exceptions if they dont have a test done like family emergency’s happen out of the sudden and what if they have to leave, unless they can get a test done that same day and get the results asap .

(Judge) I agree that anyone boarding a plane should be tested for the safety of everyone and to stop the spread of covid-19. It is good to take precautions for the safety of everyone and ourselves. Adding statements of students and their opinions on this matter would have been good to support this idea.
