Surprisingly, the majority of Morton East students said they liked their schedule this year.
According to Google AI, giving students more control over their schedules can boost engagement and empowerment. This shows that if teachers and staff assistants allow students to have control of their schedules, students can be motivated, and it would encourage them to come to school or not skip the classes that they don’t like. According to Google AI, schedules can allow for more free time that can help students pursue hobbies, engage in creative activities, or spend time on chores and work if students like their schedule. Students appreciate schedules that have clear routines but also offer time for activities outside of academics. In a random survey of 100 Morton East students, 58 said they like their schedule this year.
“I don’t like my schedule because my schedule is all over the place. I have to go to the 4th floor for no reason. Mr. Camacho is my favorite teacher because he is funny and knows how to explain work,” said Morton East student Janery Sanchez. Students don’t like running all over the place, and they don’t like changing back and sweating after gym.
“I wish there were some things I could’ve switched, like gym. I know everyone has gym in their schedule, but my least favorite class is gym. I just don’t really like changing for gym because I have swimming. The only thing I like about my schedule is how quiet it is in my class because I don’t really know anybody in any of my classes. I have Mr. Bluster for my 6th period, and I like him as a teacher. I had him in my sophomore year. I would say he’s my favorite teacher because he’s funny and he helps me out on work when I’m struggling,” said Morton East student Cassandra Hernandez.
Students are usually comfortable asking teachers for help in class. Other times, students struggle with their classes because they are too afraid to ask for help.
“My schedule is nice. I really like gym because I have 2 friends there. I also like painting, but at the same time, it’s boring—maybe because I don’t know how to draw. The only thing I would change is lunch,” said Morton East student Nancy Rodriguez.
Though schedules may not be perfect, students continue finding ways to make the best of them throughout the school year.
“I think we have a conventional schedule from 9:00 am–2:55 pm . That’s because it works,” said senior Jimmiah Johnson.

one thing i thought you did very well was how you expressed how the students felt

You did good in the article but you need to get opinions for other students like for different years.

Great report. From my experience, if students have lunch with their friends, then the rest of the schedule will not be as bad. Many times, students are willing to change their entire schedule in order to be with their friends at lunch.
