About half of Morton East students traveled outside of the state this summer.
According to Google’s AI overview, about half (57%) of Americans travel during the summer. Data suggests that many vacations taken over the summer are domestic, meaning that those who take a trip during summer stay within the U.S. (97%). Family vacations are a dominant trend; 53% of people who travel do so with family members. According to Google’s AI overview, statistics show that 47% of young adults aged 18-34 reported that their summer vacations were influenced by social media. Concerts significantly influence young adults to travel. Locally and most recently, in a random survey of 102 Morton East students, 52% said that they traveled over the summer.

“I went to Wisconsin Dells; it is a yearly family tradition, and each year we stay at Wilderness Resort,” said Spanish teacher Esmeralda Ortiz.
From yearly family traditions to job opportunities, everybody has a different motive for their vacation.
“Over the summer, I traveled to Georgia for a job opportunity; I was there for a month and a half,” said senior Jaden Rodriguez.
Trips are most of the time domestic; most people like to stay within the U.S, but sometimes a trip can be out of the country.
“I visited Madrid with my mom and dad for a week and got to watch Madrid play a soccer game,” said senior Francisco Gallego Reyes.
A lot of the time, trips can be much farther and out of the country, but most of the time, they might stay local.
“I went to Wisconsin with my friend’s family for a day, and my favorite thing to do there was go to the waterpark in Great Wolf Lodge,” said sophomore Ariel Espinosa.
A lot of trips are usually close to home, but that doesn’t mean some trips can’t be farther. Most of the time, people stay within the U.S.
“I went to Texas with my dad’s side of the family for a family trip for a week and went to parties and a water park,” said sophomore Jermaine Hawkins Jr.
Most of the time, trips are taken with family members and sometimes can be with the family of a friend or a close friend.
“I went to Michigan with a friend’s family for a week, and it was very hot. My favorite thing there was fishing at the big lake,” said junior Axel Lopez.
