Approximately 400 students were recently screened for vision and hearing at Morton East High School.
Vision and hearing screenings were conducted at J. S. Morton East High School starting on February 27 & March 11, 2025. The students were screened as mandated by the State of Illinois.
Many students were screened free of charge. Students included those referred from teachers, transfer students, and special education students. Students that wear glasses were required to bring glasses on the day of testing.
“Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor. Your child is not required to undergo this vision screening if an optometrist or ophthalmologist has completed and signed a report form indicating that an examination has been administered within the previous 12 months,” says the State of Illinois School Code, section 27-28.1 (Section 27-8.1 of the School Code)
Parents were notified if their student did not pass the screening test.
