The Morton meme page, “Unusual Morton Images”, has made a name for itself as a force in school pride by offering students the opportunity to send and see pictures and memes relating to daily life at Morton schools.

According to the “Unusual Morton Images” page on Instagram, the page consists of pictures and memes from students who submit them, and original content from the people in charge of the page. Before this, there have been 5 earlier iterations of the Morton meme page. The new page opened during the pandemic to boost student morale. Interestingly, despite the potential for growth during the pandemic, the last Facebook page is more successful in terms of raw numbers compared to the current Instagram page. In a random survey of 132 Morton East students, 47 students reported that they follow the page.

“I love the submissions,” Morton junior Angel Rivera said.

Yet, other students are fond of different content.

“I enjoy parodies like GTA Morton and the fake album covers,” junior Carlos Hernandez said.

While many enjoy the content that the page has to offer, some have a few objections.

“I don’t like the posts that make the school look bad,” Morton East High School’s principal Jose Gamboa said.

Some people, on the other hand, enjoy specific aspects of the meme page.

“I like the randomness of it,” Morton East senior Yair Vega said.
Some people just simply like the page for what it is.

“I like that it exists because it’s funny,” junior Juan Rodriguez said.
