Most Morton East students will stay in this Valentines
February 14, 2020
The majority of students are going to stay in on Valentine’s day.
According to MarketWatch at the beginning, about 60% of people plan to celebrate Valentine’s day with their significant other. Over the years that number has moderately decreased. Nowadays only about 51% expect to treat their sweethearts on Valentine’s day. And the number of shoppers showing the holiday some love has been trending downward for 12 years. In a survey conducted at Morton East, we found that 63 students out of 100 would rather stay in than go out on Valentine’s day.
“My parents don’t go out or do anything and just treat it like a normal day,” said senior Esteban Barrios
It seems like nowadays people are treating valentine’s day like any other day.
“My husband and I don’t really do anything special and we never really have done anything special,” said Culinary Arts teacher Jessica Rinehart.
While some people don’t celebrate valentine’s day there are still people keeping the holiday in spirit.
“I get valentine cards from my family members and go out for dinner,” says Art teacher Kathryn Ruddy.
