Student will not graduate if they miss 5 days of School
April 22, 2019
Next year, Morton District 201, will not let you graduate if you miss more than 5 more days.
Students miss many days of school every year. About 5 million to 7 million U.S students miss nearly a month of school each year. Many students sometimes miss school due to medical appointments, but many don’t come to school due to laziness. 7 out of 10 students said that they miss days of school due to not wanting to go. The reason why Morton is starting to do this next year is that they feel like many students have missed so many days of school over the past years. Even though some students have missed school days due to laziness there are some students who have missed school days due to emergencies.
“I remember I had to miss some school days due to one of my family members dying. It’s not fair that we can’t miss days because of an emergency due to the fear of not being able to graduate” said an anonymous Morton student.
“5 days is too little time for someone to not be able to graduate for missing school. I at least get sick 5 times every 2 months” said senior Humberto Santos.
“The school should focus on helping more students to graduate rather than making it more difficult for people to graduate,” said senior Brandon Hammond.

A lot students been absences 5 or more days to school some students who are lazy or doesn’t want go school that administration thinks that way. But what if its a reason to be absence like a student has a flu and couldn’t go to school like week or 2 and some students are in the hospital that have been accidents. And students might have emergencys at home need to stay home make sure of it. This new rule might struggle a lot students that most of students will not graduate.

Their has been too many students that miss school because they are lazy and they usually get dropped from a class or school. Being limited only 5 days of absences is absurd because there’s people that deal with different issues and its just going to make things worse for them. What are they suppose to do if they’re passing all their classes but cant graduate because they missed 5 days? That’s would be pretty selfish. I would not believe this article because I know that administration tries to help kids out so they can graduate faster instead of making it harder for everyone else.
