SENIOR PROM CANCELED DUE TO THE HIGH AMOUNT OF SENIOR INCOMPLETES
April 22, 2019
As of April 15, 2019, it was announced by the administrators that senior prom was canceled. 80% of the class of 2019 students were on the list for incompletes. Most students still needed to appeal due to their poor attendance. Statistics show that more than 30% of bad grades are due to the high amount of absences.
As the news broke out, most students reacted negatively to it…
“I had a whole dress, and heels already planned to wear for the event I find it unfair that I’m affected by this when I worked so hard to ensure that I could attend all senior activities to hear this is B.S.” Senior Guadalupe Ramirez said.
On other hand, some Seniors were not affected by the news and showed no interest in going…
“Well then I guess It be like that, I didn’t really want to go anyways plus it’s probably good that they did cancel it because most seniors are failing.” Senior
One senior even said that they wouldn’t go to their graduation if this was the case…
“OMG wow ok then might as well not go to graduation if it’s coming to this B.S.” Senior
When an administrator was asked if this was true, she knew confirming the news would bring great controversy amongst students.
“We only went to these lengths in order for our students to reflect and realize that their actions have a consequence and hopefully fix or improve their grades.” Assistant principal Mrs. Best said

I also find this questionable how they want to cancel graduation for all of us students when it’s only some that have to appeal for attendance and it’s not fair for the ones who have had perfect attendance.

One thing that is believable is the fact that a lot of students have incompletes. However, I think 80% is too high and unrealistic so I wouldn’t believe this article if I saw it somewhere.

I completely believed the entire thing because school administrators have been strict with attendance. However, I don’t believe that you have to appeal absences in order to graduate. I would believe this if it were shared with me.

What i find believable is that bad grades are due to absences which leads to the incompletes, what i don’t find believeable is that they would cancel prom knowing there’s people that are eligible to go. I wouldn’t believe this if I saw it on the internet.

one thing i found believable is that bad grades are due to the high amount of absences but what i don’t find true is the fact that they would cancel prom knowing there are still people eligible to go.

i find this article believable because every person i talk to even including me have I’s in one or more classes and having these grades shouldn’t be acceptable for people about to graduate. The part that isn’t believable is the fact that they would cancel Prom for all seniors including the ones who have done great for themselves during the past years. This isn’t something i would believe if i saw on social media and seems highly unlikely

Prom being cancelled due to the amount of I’s even for those passing all their classes. Can they really cancel prom for the whole school. I didn’t find it believable because never have I heard something about that.

I find the fact that they canceled graduation. I find it questionable because not everyone is failing. If I saw this on social media I would not believe it at first.

It sounds believable, at the same time it isn’t. I do happen to agree with the part that some seniors are failing, but not all, most seniors are passing. I wouldn’t believe such new even if it was published in the internet. Something like this means that the school would actually announce.

I found this believable because many seniors do have incomplete. Something that is doubtful is that why wouldn’t seniors want to attend their own graduation. I would not believe this if it was on facebook.

I found this believable because many seniors do have incomplete assignments. Something questionable is that why wouldn’t seniors not care about prom or going to their own graduation.

I find this believable that many Seniors don’t care about prom being cancelled or postpone. One thing I didn’t find believable when a senior said he’s not going to his own graduation. If the article was more explained and had more evidence then i would believe the article was real.

One thing I found believable was the fact that many students didn’t care if prom was cancelled or not. One thing I didn’t find believable was the fact that they said 80% of students were receiving an I, this number is by far not believable. If I didn’t know this article was fake I would’ve believed it.

One thing that makes me think this is real is because a lot of students do have bad grades or incompletes, but one reason i question this is because it wouldn’t be right for the students that have worked hard all year to have good grades and have been looking forward to prom, i know our school wouldn’t be his cruel or unfair

I found that them canceling prom due to the amount of students having to appeal to be believable. I question that why would they do that if the kids who need to appeal should just not be able to attend and let the rest of the kids go. I would’ve believed this if it were sent by the main principle

At first glance on a social media site, it might be a little believable because i do know a vast amount of students had to appeal. However, when actually taking the time to read the article, it was only a bunch of quotes of what other students think about the situation. There wasn’t any actual “evidence” backing up that prom would be cancelled due to many incomplete’s. One thing i found questionable is how some students didn’t care. It does not seem true that any senior wouldn’t mind the idea of their prom being cancelled. If the article had been written with more detail, it would have been been some what believable.

This article could be seen as believable. The headline its self is believable, as well as all the facts and stats given in the article. One thing that is questionable is the student deciding to miss out on her special hard earned day due to prom being canceled. If this article did not have a disclaimer, i would find it believable.

What was believable was the fact that theres a lot of seniors that have incompletes and absences as well. One thing that is questionable is why would they cancel prom for all seniors? When theres some that actually worked really hard to keep good grades and attend the senior activities. I feel like I would believe this is true.
Brenda Gutierrez • Apr 22, 2019 at 7:22 pm
I found this believable due to that they wanted to cancel graduation because some students had to appeal. I also find this questionable how they want to cancel graduation for all of us students when it’s only some that have to appeal for attendance and it’s not fair for the ones who have had perfect attendance. I would believe this if it would of come from the main principal.

One thing that is believable in this article is that many seniors have incompletes in their classes. One think that is questionable is that why would anyone miss their special moment on graduating on stage just because prom was cancelled? I think i would probably believe is true but then i would actually stop and look if its true or not.
