No more uniform for Morton East students
April 22, 2019
Next year, Morton East doesn’t want its students to wear uniforms anymore.
Wearing a uniform takes away our freedom of expression as it limits how we can express ourselves. Children should be able to express themselves however they like, and uniform doesn’t allow individuality. Your own clothes are good and appropriate clothing for all year round, and if students wore them to school, they wouldn’t get cold in winter, and in summer they wouldn’t get hot. Also, wearing dark and tight clothing all day can leave us with a not-so-nice body odor. Morton East High made students take a survey at the beginning of the school about if they should or not wear uniform to school, the results where 90 percent of students — reported that they disliked wearing uniforms. However, other data showed more nuanced results. For instance, 54 percent of students agreed that they still had their identity while wearing a uniform, and 50 percent agreed that uniforms saved their families money. But only 41 percent of students agreed that there was less gang activity at their school.
“I Don’t like wearing this maroon polo t-shirt and khakis pants because I feel in prison because everyone wears something. I want to dress up to show the people who I really am and what style I like”, Karina Vazquez said.
People don’t like how the uniform looks on them and don’t feel their self, that why we should wear our own clothes.
“Yes, just because Morton upgraded with the new-look that should also make new changes in our uniform or maybe let us wear what we want because the weather it’s changing, and we are stuck with this ugly uniform,” Joel Valdez said.
Maybe the uniform is ugly, but there is always a reason why we wear them.
“ I remember that when I came to register they ask if we wanted Morton students to not to wear uniform, yes as a teen everyone buts “ yes” but if you think about it people can make fun of you of how you dress and can confuse you with a gang member,” Melissa Tolento said.
DISCLAIMER: This MortONION article is entirely fabricated — false. Be careful of FAKE NEWS! Don’t spread lies.

How does school uniform save family money. you have to buy like 5 pair of khaki pants and buy like 5 Morton east shirts and buy the Morton east PE uniform so you wouldn’t have to wash the same uniform everyday. yes their are some reasons why we should wear uniform like not worrying on what to wear or being bullied and gangs, but i dont think the whole school is full of that. we should wear what we want, and have a good highschool experience and not be reminded of dress codes everytime were walking in the hallway.

I found this article believable because a lot of students agree with this and want to come in regular clothes. Something I found questionable is that morton has been against this for a long time and make money from out of uniform passes so they wouldn’t do this. I would find this believable on social media because I personally wanted this to happen.

The thing I found believable was that students dislike there uniforms.
The one thing I didn’t believe was that Morton was going to let use wear what ever we wanted.
If I saw this on social media I wouldn’t believe this

I found this believable because the quotes sounded reasonable and many of the reasons they gave, like families save more money because there children wear uniforms, a reason i know this is fake is because students have never liked the uniform and if it was a real problem then students would have done something about it but they haven’t.

I personally don’t think anything from this article was believable. Students have been pushing for no uniforms for a really long time and the benefits of uniforms are far higher than the negatives. One thing I found questionable was how people claim that uniforms don’t allow them to express themselves. I think that someone who truly wanted to express themselves, would not allow a silly uniform to keep them in check. If i saw this article pop up on on social media, I would read through it for the small possibility that school uniforms would no longer be required.

I found the explanation & reasoning to why we would no longer wear uniforms completely believable, as well as the stats and quotes given, making it seem credible. However, the uniform policy was strictly placed for a reason so for them to add the statement, “Next year, Morton East doesn’t want its students to wear uniforms anymore.” is questionable, but overall the article can be seen as believable.

Should students be able to express there self with there clothing?

one thing that i found believable was that students feel that they can express themselfes through there clothes. One thing i did not find true was that morton will have regular clothes next year. i would have not believed this article if someone posted it on social media because morton eat is very strickt uniform.

one thinf i found believeable was how they were explaning how students felt that that they can express themsefs through their clothes.
one thing i found questinable was where they really going to not have uniform anymore. I would have believed this article if i didnt know it was true.

Uniform keeps violence, away from most kids because of the area you surround yourself with. In most case a decrease of reported gang associated with school uniform has been going on. Along with that uniform should be a prier into attending a school because of outside people who don’t attend that school as well.

one thing i found believable is that “wearing a uniform takes away our freedom of expression as it limits how we can express ourselves” because that’s true because us as students having to wear a uniform everyday to school we can express ourselves towards other students, we don’t get to show our expressions trough a uniform. One thing that i find questionable is that i don’t how 54 percent of students said that they still have their identity when they wear uniforms like how does that work that is so not true lol. I feel like if a lot of students from Morton started sharing this article in social media i would of kinda believe it since Morton is changing a lot of things and very year is different but who knows.

I found it believable when she said we should be able to express ourselves more with the clothing we like since we live in an expressive world now. What i found questionable was the survey they said students took at he beginning of the year i heard, people wouldn’t told everyone about it. If a friend shared it maybe i would believe since they school is renovating maybe they want to start fresh and let students wear what they want.

One thing i found believable was the survey part , because her statistics do indeed sound real , a lot of people hate uniform so it wouldn’t really surprise me if majority of students voted no uniform. One thing i found questionable was when she said that wearing uniforms saves families money i personally believe that is false just because people buy clothes regardless and uniform pants are twice as expensive as normal jeans. I would have totally believed this if someone shared it because everything stated seemed believable enough.

The thing I found believable was that students hate the uniforms, The thing I found questionable is that the uniforms save families money in which I disagree since families are more likely to spend more money on uniforms

This was a very good read and caught my attention by the article headline. It was easy to believe that “54 percent of students agreed that they still had their identity while wearing a uniform” because I have talked to people before about the uniform policy and most people did not have a problem with it. One thing I did find questionable was was would they even take out the uniform policy when they put it in place for a reason. I would have believed this is someone shared this because I tend to just read the headline and not the whole article.

I found believable that “Children should be able to express themselves however they like, and uniform doesn’t allow individuality.” One thing i found questionable was how many people don’t like uniform. I would believe if there wasn’t any disclaimers.
