Most Morton East students hope to get manufactured store-bought gifts this holiday.
Another survey showed that 85 out of 100 students at Morton East High School said they prefer receiving bought gifts over DIY gifts, while 15 out of 100 students said they prefer receiving DIY gifts. Some DIY gift ideas that Morton students have received include posters, bracelets, and drawings. For some, it truly is the thought that counts.
“I prefer getting DIY gifts because the person who gave it to me took the time out of their day to handmake something for me,” said senior Yanelly Topete.
Another student agrees.
“I love getting DIY and giving DIY gifts because they are so cute to make and save money,” said sophomore Maria Guzman.
However, some students think differently.
“I prefer bought gifts because paper or handmade stuff usually ends up in the trash since I don’t use it like I would a bought gift,” said junior Helem Lopez.
And, the thought might be genuine to some, but they still love those quality manufactured items.
“I appreciate that someone takes the time to make me something, but I prefer bought gifts instead of something I might throw away,” said sophomore Nicolle Ruiz.
