Are the ghosts of Morton East real?

At Morton East, plenty of ghost stories circulate among the student body. Many believe these stories to be true, while others believe they are merely rumors.
Most of these ghost stories have emerged due to the building’s old age, as Morton East was built in 1894. Since then, many don’t doubt that several fatal accidents have occurred within the school throughout the years. In a random survey of 100 Morton East students, 56 students believe East is haunted while 44 other students don’t believe it’s haunted.
“The rumors are all fake, the only ghost at East is Casper the Friendly Ghost,” says Linda “Scooby” Bultrini, the head of security at East.
These ghost stories are also popular among Morton East staff.
“I’ve heard from the security that they’ve seen some pretty scary things when they’re alone at night,” journalism teacher Mr. Frankfother said.
However, the most popular ghost story at Morton East is of the ghost that resides within the auditorium. Although there is plenty of speculation and uncertainty as to who it is, we have concluded that the ghost is, in fact, the late Mr. Drews. He was the theatre director at East in the 1970s up until his death, where he suffered a heart attack the morning of opening night for West Side Story. He loved his job and his students, so there are reasons to believe that his spirit isn’t malicious, but rather kind and welcoming.
“I’ve seen a cloaked figure in the balcony of the auditorium while I was running lights during a show ALONE and in the dark,” junior Jose Organista said.
Allegedly, it is also rumored that room 115 is haunted. Back in the 1900’s, it was previously used as a swimming pool for the gym classes until someone drowned in the pool while there was no lifeguard on duty. After this apparent incident, the pool was shut down and has since been remodeled into a supervision room for upperclassmen.
“I don’t think it’s haunted because it’s not creepy at all. There are no ghosts in 115, they’re all just dumb stories that kids spread,” senior Leslie Barrera said.
Nonetheless, the question remains, is Morton East haunted?

Frankfather- the story is well written and from what it looks like it seems they have gotten credible quotes, one thing is I don\’t believe the school is hunting after some time here nothing bad happened.

Right before entering the music room you pass by a hallway and there are smaller rooms to practice piano or whatever. My sister and I were there practicing piano and then I mentioned to her about how the auditorium is haunted by mr Drews and playfully we called him out. (Mind you this was right after school, maybe 330 pm. So most of the school was empty) as soon as we mentioned his name we felt a cold breeze hit us, sounded almost like a whistle. We looked around to see if there were vents. No vents at all. We just looked at each other and ran out!!

I do not feel Morton is haunted. Eerie because of its age but not haunted. I took theater back in the 70’s when Mr. Drew was the director. I did not see any ghosts prior to Mr. Drew and do not believe his ghost is at Morton I would think he would of moved on to bigger productions.

The director that died in the 70’s was George Drew, (not Drews). He was very well loved by us, and I would be happy to think his mirth filled spirit still exists somewhere. The last time I was in the theater was a few years ago and my heart broke to see the Super Troopers are gone, some of the murals have damage, and the house lights were flashing randomly during the performance. Mr Drew would have never been that rude. 🙂

Frankfother- Good work on this story, i truly believe that the janitors and others that stay after school hours should be the ones who know the true answer to this question.

Im going to keep it absolutely 100% here, i think this place IS NOT haunted. Frankly i think if it was, we would have seen a lot more sightings than already reported. Or maybe it is, who knows to be honest.

I feel as if the school is haunted, especially on the first and second floor.

I don’t think that this school is haunted, I mean nothing that I’ve heard of.
