Coca-Cola and Cheetos are the best drink and snack of 2023, a survey says.

In a random survey of 100 Morton East students, 13 selected Coca-Cola as their preferred drink, while 15 also selected Cheetos as their favorite snack.

Coca-Cola used to be sold as a medicine to relieve exhaustion; more than 10k of these soft drinks are sold and consumed globally per second. The origins of the name brand came from two of the ingredients of the drink: coca leaf and kola nut.

While some students may have picked Coca-Cola as the most preferred, some students don’t agree.

“No because I feel like when people want to get a drink at the vending machine they usually go because they are thirsty or need to be hydrated, like water or juice,” Senior Ailani Mendoza said.

From the survey, Morton East students’ top 3 preferred drinks in the vending machine were Coca-Cola (13), Gatorade (12), and Water (9) other drink students choose were Mountain Dew (5), Pepsi (5), Sprite (4), Dr. pepper (3), The Bubly Sparkling Soda (2), Monster energy drink (2), Kickstarter (2), and Cranberry juice (1). The top 3 preferred snacks were Cheetos (15), Skittles (6), and M&M’s (5) other snacks students choose were Doritos (4), Takis (3), Lays (2), Gummies (2), Chewy granola bars (1), and Pretzels (1).
