Sour Patch is #1 for East students

Sour Patch is what MEHS students want in their trick or treat bags.

The most popular Halloween candy varies by states.   According to USA Today,  in Illinois the favorite is Kit Kat (with consumers buying 196,089 pounds of Kit Kat); the second favorite is Sour Patch Kids (137,257 pounds); third is Snickers (91,494 pounds).

In Japan, an adult can buy a sake-flavored Kit Kat — that tastes like rice wine, YUK!  Did you know that the creator of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups named the treat after himself?.   Did you also know that the inventor of the Tootsie Roll created a precursor to Jell-O?  (Mentalfloss.com)  (I guess we’re pretty good Illinoisans because) in a random survey of 100 Morton East students, 60 students reported that their favorite candy is Sour Patch.

“My favorite candy out of the five is Sour Patch because they are colorful, and I like how they taste,” senior Kimberly Dominguez said.

Even though Sour Patch is her favorite candy, other students prefer the sweet and caramel side.

“My favorite candy is snickers because I like chocolate and peanuts,” senior Gerardo Rodriguez said.

Although sour and sweet candies are well loved by people everyone has a different taste.

“My favorite candy is Milky Way because it has caramel inside,” senior Maria Sanchez said.
