Most Morton East students miss watching movies at the theater.
Due to COVID-19, we are now unable to go to theaters and, now, movies that were supposed to come out in 2020 must come out in 2021. According to RottenTomatoes.com, some movies that are highly anticipated to come out in 2021 are “Ghostbusters: Afterlife”, “Jackass 4”, “Untitled Paranormal Activity Movie”, “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It”, “Candyman”, “A Quiet Place Part 2”, and “Harry Potter the Cursed Child”. In a random survey of 50 students, 39 students reported that they missed watching movies in theaters and 11 students reported that they do not miss watching movies in theaters.
“Some of the movies I’m excited to come out in 2021 are ‘A Quiet Place Part II’, ‘Mission: Impossible 7’, and ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’. I’m excited for these movies to come out because they’re all long-awaited sequels to some of my favorite movies. I’m also hopeful that, in 2021, theaters will be open so I can go watch these movies on the big screen,” senior Zeena Al Herbawi said.
Some are wondering if theaters will even be open by 2021 while other individuals are just hoping that the movies do not disappoint.
“I’m excited for some of the upcoming 2021 movies, Like the new Harry Potter movie that’s coming out later on in the year and It’s exciting and I hope it doesn’t disappoint the audience,” senior Jesus Salinas said.
While some are excited for Harry Potter others are excited about scary movies.
“The movies that I am most excited about to watch in theaters are horror movies because it’s a much better experience to watch a scary movie in a dark room with loudspeakers but also I do wonder how all the theaters are going to take precautions because of COVID-19,” senior Alexa Rocel said.
Then, some just miss how everything was before COVID.
“I miss watching the movie trailers and getting excited about them getting released on the big screen. I LOVE losing myself in a movie. The perfect escape from life! I miss spending time with my friends and family while experiencing a movie on the big screen and munching on some movie snacks!” English teacher Ms. Amanda Genge said.

The quotes you received are great information on how people feel about the upcoming movies. I think you could have asked someone about how they felt when Covid-19 stop all the movies that were suppose to come out this year.
