Single on Valentine’s? Not a problem

Spending this Valentine single? That’s okay, you’re not alone.

In a survey of 100 Morton East students, 71 reported that they will spend this Valentine’s Day single.  WTHR channel 13 announced that Hooters is giving away free boneless wings to single people on Valentine’s Day. The restaurant is giving away 10 free boneless wings to anyone who shreds a picture of their ex-special someone. You must buy any 10 wings first to participate. According to the website “Petal Talk – Flower” February 14th is the second largest card giving day of the year, just after Christmas. Based on the website “AOL” some of the most popular Valentine’s Day gifts are Candy (specifically chocolate), greeting cards, going out, and flowers.

“I did see on Facebook that Hooters was giving away wings on Valentine’s Day.  I think it’s a good offer.   many other restaurants also have specials for this day. For example, I saw that Los Comales will be selling heart-shaped tortas and heart-shaped tacos,” Angel Ruiz said.

During Valentine’s Day, many restaurants offer a special menu to attract more people but to also give the people new gift ideas. This day can be spent with friends and people that are special to you.

“Muchas personas en este dia piensan que es solo para los que tienen pareja, se les olvida que tambien es dia para celebrar la amistad no tienes que tener una pareja,” Alicia Fajardo dijo.

While some people spend this day with their loved ones, others just look at it as a regular day.

“Now Valentine’s Day, it’s just another normal day for many.  I remember back in elementary school it used to be fun; we all used to buy something and share it with the class like candy and cards,” senior Natally Rodriguez said.

It’s always good to have someone by your side that cares and loves you, but like many advantages, there are many disadvantages that come when dating someone.

“When you single you can do whatever you want and not have to worry about someone else, but when you are in a relationship you are limited to what you can do because your partner might not like certain things,” junior Gabby Rogel said.
