“Pero por ahora esta solita, ella perrea sola,” was the best song lyrics of last year for the Morton East Students

On a random survey of 73 Morton east high school students and residents of the Cicero area, 26 people think Bad Bunny’s lyric was the best. According to Genius “The Importance of Bad Bunny’s ‘Yo Perreo Sola’, “by Jacques Morel Jr and many more, claim Bad Bunny’s song is an anthem for women. This anthem is for women who go to clubs by themselves to enjoy themselves. They also claim that this song represents that women do not need others to have fun and they can also be independent. The focus of the song is based on a women’s choice to dance by herself. In the past Bad Bunny’s song “Yo Perreo Sola” was very popular and well known, so it is no surprise it won.

“I love that song because Bad Bunny interpreted that song to send a blunt message against harassment. He made that song to get the message of when a girl says no it means no, and for when for whoever just simply wants to dance alone but feel safe at the same time. I found this video to be powerful in a way because he dressed up as a girl without caring what other people said so that he could say that it’s ok to be and do whatever you want. He’s always been true to himself and I just love that about him. He stands up for what he truly believes, which is also why he’s one of my favorite artists.” Said Morton east student Alondra Martinez.

“no I can’t sleep until I feel your touch” – The Weekend came in second place with 11 votes. This quote comes from The Weeknd song, “Blinding lights” and according to Esquire “The Weeknd Told Us What ‘Blinding Lights’ Really Means. He Does Not Advocate Doing It.” by Justin Kirkland say the song is about wanting to see someone while intoxicated and the streetlights are blinding but that won’t stop you from wanting to see them.

“I like the song because I like the tempo and rhythm of the song. I like how the song has a happy rhythm, but he talks about having trouble sleeping and how he’s “Drowning in the night”. This song is very catchy and got stuck in my head the first time I heard it on the radio.” said Cicero resident Gabby Zavala.

“I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it.” came in third place with 10 votes. This lyric comes from one of Ariana Grande’s song named “7 Rings.” According to Elle “Ariana Grande Just Released “7 Rings” And It’s All About Being Rich As Hell” by Alyssa Bailey. Her article claims that Ariana Grande had posted on Twitter saying “7 Rings” is meant to be a friendship anthem. They also claim the song is more about her resilience in times of difficulty, success, and self-made wealth.

“I really like this song because I’m a big fan of Ariana Grande.” said Cicero resident Leslie Ruiz.

Lyrics “You got to keep me focused, you want it, say so” – Doja Cat and “Life is sweet as honey” – BTS tied for the last place with only four points each

“I like the song because it inspires me and they truly express themselves through their music also I can relate to the lyric “life is sweet as honey,” said Ashley Perez junior at Morton East High school.

“ I don’t really like “Say So” by Doja Cat because it was hyped a lot by TikTok,” said anonymous cicero resident
