A survey conducted at Morton East High School of 100 students asked “Do you have a pet?”. If they answered yes, they were asked to write down what kind of pet they own. The majority of sophomores, juniors, and seniors said they had dogs, coming in at 64%. Cats came in as 22% and 14% of students had a different kind of pet. These are two different types of pets that some students at Morton East have: a guinea pig named Sofia with her owner, Reyna Rebolledo, and a cat named Sam with his owner, Wendy Aguirre. After doing some research, the first domesticated animal was a dog. After dogs, the human race started to make steps towards allowing wild animals to be taken in as pets.
