Morton College is offering a free nursing assistant certification program to interested Morton East students.

The nursing program is free for those who qualify and apply and gives you a jump start on your college coursework. In order to join the nursing program, there were mandatory meetings at Morton East and also Morton West in September and November.  The meetings provided students with specific information about the nursing assistant program, why it’s a good idea to join and the steps you to join and be approved. Completion of the program provides students with the certificate to get started in a health career.  When you become a certified nursing assistant, you have the chance to start working in a health clinic and start helping people. For many, this may be their first step to pursuing an eventual career in nursing.

“Most students join the nursing program to start getting used to how to help people who need their help,” Miss Qupec said.

Most students think being in the nursing program gives you so many benefits.

“The nursing program, it’s a good help for the parents and the students since its giving them a start in the field at no cost,” senior Karina Vazquez said.

It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for many students interested in a health care career.

“I thought to get in the nursing program was easy, (but I didn’t think it would ever be free),” one senior student Cindy said.
