Most students at Morton East are spending time with their families on New Year’s Eve.

According to “Spending time with family during the holidays”, Research shows that families who spend time together share stronger emotional bonds. Spending time as a family is associated with a sense of belonging and enhanced communication, particularly with children, who have higher academic performances and are less likely to have behavioral problems. Traditionally, favorite times of year for most friends and families is to gather, reminiscing about old memories and making lots of news ones is, of course, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. In a random survey of 14 Morton East students, 12 will be spending New Year’s with their family.

“I will be spending time with my family like every other holiday and just enjoy the day with the people I love most,” Morton East student Jonathan Celaya said.

But, not all students will be spending time with their family, some will be working and just going back home to sleep on New Year’s Eve.

“I will be making pizzas at my job then going home to sleep,” senior Briana Maciel said.

Have an amazing break full of joy and happy holidays.
