Officer M. Murrillo from the Chicago Police Department answered the following questions on becoming a police officer.
What program did you take to became a police officer?
(I went to ) Morton College; it has a good program.
Is the processes to becoming a police officer hard?
The process is long, not hard. You said you work out; (If that’s the case) then the physical part of it, it’s gonna be easy for you. The writing part is a little hard, but you learn fast.
Do you have to be physically fit to become a cop?
Yes, a little. You have got to bench, and (be able to) run a long time, and learn self defense — which they teach in the academy.
Was the school work hard?
It was challenging at first, but after you get used to it, (you catch on). But, (the class work is) all between the computer and you, so you learn fast.
How much did you pay for the 2 years?
I filled out my FAFSA; they gave me $2k. I paid the (remaining balance.) It was $3,500 each year, $1,600 each semester.
